On 22 January 2025, Regulation (EU) 2025\/40 on packaging and packaging waste, amending Regulation (EU) 2019\/1020 and Directive (EU) 2019\/904 and repealing Directive 94\/62\/EC, was published in the Official Journal of the European Union. The EU regulation will enter into force next month, although it will be generally enforceable from 12 August 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This regulation aims to harmonise requirements in the EU. \u2018For this reason, it is particularly important that the Member States refrain from imposing obligations that \u2018go further\u2019, except in those areas in which the European regulation expressly authorises them to do so\u2019, Helena stresses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
