Artificial intelligence has established itself as a key tool for tackling the growing regulatory complexity faced by companies. However, its use without appropriate governance can give rise to new legal and reputational risks.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Vanessa Fern\u00e1ndez-Lled\u00f3, Head of Corporate Compliance at G\u00f3mez-Acebo & Pombo, highlights that \u201cthe use of AI tools clearly enhances the detection and prevention of irregular conduct within companies, but it does not replace oversight by internal compliance officers and external advisers\u201d. She also warns that its application may conflict with fundamental rights such as privacy and data protection if it is not implemented in line with the principles of necessity, suitability and proportionality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enrique Luz\u00f3n, for his part, stresses that AI has ceased to be a purely technological matter and has become an issue of corporate governance. AI is no longer just a competitive advantage; it is a responsibility that requires proper structures, controls and clear human oversight within compliance frameworks, he notes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both agree that the real challenge for organisations lies not in automating more processes, but in integrating AI within a robust, transparent compliance framework aligned with corporate values.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
