The energy transition, regulatory changes and the complexity of projects are fuelling a rise in legal disputes.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Litigation teams at major law firms are anticipating a year of intense judicial activity, with growing disputes in strategic sectors and increasingly sophisticated controversies. Energy, infrastructure and large-scale business projects are expected to account for a significant share of the disputes ahead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this context, Rafael Murillo, litigation partner at G\u00f3mez-Acebo & Pombo, places the energy sector at the heart of the surge in litigation. \u201cWe expect a spike in disputes arising from the blackout and difficulties in accessing the grid,\u201d he explains. Added to this is the impact of the energy transition and regulatory volatility, which are putting long-term contracts under strain and giving rise to both commercial and regulatory conflicts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Murillo adds that, beyond the international backdrop, it will be domestic regulatory decisions that have the greatest impact on litigation practice, forcing companies and operators to strengthen their strategies for preventing and managing legal risk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
