Ana Martínez-Pina talks about incentives in the private pension system in this Funds People report.

Occupational pension plans have regained attractiveness after years of loss of confidence. The government has promoted measures to encourage these products, such as the creation of simplified occupational pension plans (PES) for the self-employed and publicly promoted occupational pension funds (FPEPP). In addition, the recent reform in December 2024 allowed fund managers to market these plans, which has given a boost to the sector.

This change also coincides with a good year for financial markets, which has encouraged investors to allocate part of their investments to occupational pension plans. However, the industry is still calling for more incentives to strengthen the private pension system, says our Financial Regulatory and Insurance partner Ana Martínez-Pina.

Despite the recovery in the field of occupational schemes, the overall picture of the pension industry shows a moderate growth in assets, mainly due to market revaluations.
