Gómez-Acebo & Pombo strengthens its Litigation and Arbitration practice with the appointment of Rafael Murillo as partner.

The new coordinating partner joins from Freshfields, where he spent more than two decades.

Gómez-Acebo & Pombo has made a significant addition to its Litigation and Arbitration practice with the appointment of Rafael Murillo as coordinating partner. With over 30 years’ experience in the management of commercial disputes, Murillo is widely regarded as one of the most respected practitioners in the Spanish market in this field.

He joins the firm from Freshfields, where he had been a partner for more than 20 years and most recently served as Head of the Litigation and Arbitration practice in Spain.

Throughout his career, Murillo has focused on contractual disputes, financial litigation, product liability and arbitration. He is also highly experienced in regulatory matters and has been involved in major administrative and contentious proceedings.

The new Gómez-Acebo & Pombo partner regularly advises leading financial institutions and investment banks on both contentious and non-contentious matters, as well as major companies in sectors such as infrastructure, pharmaceuticals, banking, telecommunications and energy.

His appointment further strengthens the firm’s Litigation and Arbitration team, which comprises seven partners and more than 40 associates across its offices in Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia and Bilbao.
