Jesús Ibáñez analyses M&A market outlook in Spain | Economía 3
Jesús Ibáñez, partner at Gómez-Acebo & Pombo, took part in the event organised by Economía 3 at the Club Alcatí, where the main players in the mergers and acquisitions (M&A) market gathered to discuss trends and forecasts for 2026.
In a context marked by inflation, high interest rates, and geopolitical uncertainty, experts agreed that Spain has regained appeal for international investors, particularly in sectors with structural demand such as healthcare, defence, energy, and technology. Additionally, the mid- and low-mid market segments show more stable activity compared to large-scale deals, thanks to strategies of consolidation and sectoral specialisation.
From a legal perspective, Ibáñez emphasised the importance of supporting clients with a practical and human approach, building relationships of trust that facilitate negotiations and prevent conflicts. According to his analysis, the combination of legal certainty, close engagement with business leaders, and proactive risk management is crucial for successful deal completion.
The Gómez-Acebo & Pombo partner concluded that, in an increasingly demanding market, trust between parties and clarity in communication become key levers to approach 2026 with caution, yet also with significant opportunities.
