Álvaro is a Banking and Finance counsel at Gómez-Acebo & Pombo.

He has specialised in complex debt restructurings, direct lending, syndicate financings, project finance, real estate finance, cross-border financings and debt analysis and distressed debt transactions.

He has a degree in Law and a diploma in Business Studies from the Comillas Pontifical University – ICADE (Spain). He has also received an LL.M from the New York University (USA). He has been international associate (secondment) at Milbank, LLP in London (UK). Álvaro is admitted to practice in Spain and in New York.

He has participated as author or coauthor in several specialised legal publications.

GA_P advises on the financing granted to Club Atlético de Madrid, 2021 – Gómez-Acebo & Pombo has advised the lenders on the €300 million financing granted to Club Atlético de Madrid, S.A.D. with security interest over audiovisual rights. The GA_P team was formed by: Ferran Foix, Álvaro Sainz, María Fanego and Laura Aguirrebeña, partner, associates and LEF, respectively, of the Banking and Finance area.

He joins Gómez-Acebo & Pombo in 2010 and becomes a counsel in 2024.
