Andrew Ward
Andrew is a partner of Competition and European Union Law at Gómez-Acebo & Pombo.
He specialises in merger control and other regulatory clearances associated with transactions (including FDI and FSR) in Spain and worldwide and has significant experience in relation to EU, Spanish and international antitrust investigations, risk management (including the design and implementation of compliance programs and training) and state aid and other European Union law issues.
A graduate in Law from the University of Cambridge, he is a Barrister of England & Wales since 1997, between 1998 and 2002 he worked as an associate in the Brussels office of Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton, and he is qualified to practice as a lawyer in Spain since 2002.
Andrew is currently Officer of the Antitrust Section of the International Bar Association and an Ambassador and member of the International Committee of the American Bar Association.
Andrew is recognised as Band 1 by the prestigious legal directory Chambers & Partners, as a “Hall of Fame” in Legal 500, and as a “Global Elite Thought Leader” in Who’s Who Legal for Competition rankings.
