Fernando is a partner of Banking and Finance and Head of New York office at Gómez-Acebo & Pombo.

He specialises in structured and project finance, takeover bids, insurance, new technologies law, regulation of financial institutions and corporate governance.

He holds a degree in Law with a specialisation in Economic Law from Universidad de Deusto (Spain) and a PhD in Law from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (Spain). In addition, he is a lecturer in civil law. He has also been a visiting researcher at the University of California, (USA), a fellow of the Spanish-American (Fulbright Program) Joint Committee and a research associate at the University of London (UK).

He is founder and honorary president of the directors’ association Instituto de Consejeros-Administradores (IC-A).

Fernando is recognised in the prestigious legal directories Chambers & Partners and Legal 500 as one of the leading practitioners in the areas of Banking & Finance, Commercial, Corporate and M&A, Project Finance, Projects and energy and Insurance. He is also listed in the International Who’s Who of Business Lawyers in the areas of M&A and Governance and Project Finance.
He has participated as an author or coauthor in several specialised legal publications.
