Luis López
Luis is a partner in the Litigation and Arbitration practice at Gómez-Acebo & Pombo.
He has extensive experience in litigation and arbitration proceedings. In the litigation sphere, he advises clients on civil and commercial disputes relating to, among others, banking, infrastructure and construction, energy, corporate conflicts, agency and distribution agreements, unfair competition, and damages arising from antitrust violations.
In addition, Luis has broad experience in domestic and international commercial and investment arbitration, both institutional and ad hoc. At the international level, he has been involved in arbitration proceedings before the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) International Court of Arbitration, the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC), and the International and Ibero-American Arbitration Centre of Madrid (CIIAM). In Spain, Luis has participated in arbitration proceedings before various institutions, including the Arbitration Court of the Madrid Chamber of Commerce (CAM), the Spanish Court of Arbitration (CEA), and the Civil and Commercial Arbitration Court (CIMA), among others. He also has extensive experience in annulment, recognition, and enforcement of arbitral awards proceedings.
In 2023, Luis completed a secondment with the international arbitration team at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, based in the firm’s Miami office (United States).
Luis has contributed as an author to several specialised legal publications and serves as a lecturer at a number of prestigious institutions, including the University of Navarra (UNAV), the Madrid Bar Association (ICAM), and IE University (IE).
In 2024, he was recognised by Iberian Lawyer as Best Litigation Lawyer Under 40 in Spain and Portugal, and in 2025 he received the Spain 4 Under 40 Future Leaders award granted by Leaders League. He has also been recognised by leading legal directories such as Chambers and Partners (Global and Europe), Legal 500, and Best Lawyers.
