Pedro Poveda
Pedro is a partner of Public Law and Regulated Sectors and Head of Environment at Gómez-Acebo & Pombo.
He has extensive experience in environmental law, waste, integrated pollution prevention and control (IPPC) and environmental authorizations.
He holds a law degree from the Autonomous University of Madrid and a diploma in Community Law from the Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha. He is currently studying a doctorate program in Socioeconomic, Territorial, Legal and Educational Instruments of the Environment at the Complutense University of Madrid.
He has worked as President of Sigma Enviro S.A., an integral environmental management consultancy company, particularly specialised in the field of waste and IPPC. He has also held different positions as a civil servant in the Ministry of the Environment (Head of the Regulations Area, Deputy Director General of Basic Regulations and Advisory member of the General Technical Secretariat).
Pedro is recognised in the prestigious legal directories Chambers & Partners and Legal 500 as one of the leading professionals in the Environment area. The International Who’s Who of Business Lawyers has recognized him in the areas of Environment and Climate Change.
He has participated as author in several specialised legal publications.

Chairman of SIGMA ENVIRO SA, an environmental management integrated consultancy firm specialising in waste and IPPC issues.
Partner of Alya Abogados, a law firm specialising in water, energy and climate change law.
