Rodrigo López
Rodrigo is a partner of Litigation and Arbitration and Head of Insolvency at Gómez-Acebo & Pombo.
He holds a Law degree from the University of Salamanca (Spain) and was awarded a scholarship in the IV Edition of the Best Graduate of the Year (sponsored by Ernst & Young, IE University (Spain) and Diario Cinco Días). He completed the Master’s in Corporate Legal Advice (MAJ) at IE University.
Rodrigo has extensive experience in insolvency and pre-insolvency proceedings, having advised national and international financial institutions, funds and major corporations in some of the most significant insolvency and refinancing/restructuring processes undertaken in Spain, several of which involved highly innovative elements. As a result, Rodrigo and the Insolvency practice he leads are recognised in the most prestigious legal directories (Band 1 in Chambers & Partners and Legal 500).
The Restructuring and Special Situations Team, of which Rodrigo is a member, was recognised as the best team in this field at the Business Law Awards in both 2022 and 2024, organised by El Confidencial Jurídico.
In addition to his insolvency expertise, Rodrigo is a highly regarded litigator, having been involved in some of the most high-profile and widely reported court cases in recent years.
Rodrigo regularly contributes to specialist forums and publications on restructuring and insolvency matters.
