Cláudia Tomás Pedro analyses the copyright issues raised by ChatGPT’s viral images | Revista LUZ
Cláudia Tomás Pedro, senior associate and head of Industrial and Intellectual Property, argues that it is important to discuss whether Studio Ghibli would have legal grounds to object, under the protection rules and exceptions and limitations legally provided for.
The new ChatGPT update offers the possibility of transforming any image into the style of Studio Ghibli in seconds. This new trend raises legal questions about copyright and even privacy security.
Cláudia Tomás Pedro reflects on how obtaining this type of image ‘raises copyright issues that have already been raised on other occasions and are still the order of the day,’ noting that ‘questions arise about the use of works as input for training artificial intelligence, as well as the output.’
