GA_P advises Engie on the acquisition of one of the most advanced and largest stand‑alone battery storage portfolios in Spain.

icon 9 April, 2026

Gómez-Acebo & Pombo has advised Engie on the acquisition of two of the largest battery energy storage projects, located in Palmones (Cádiz) and Cerrillo (Málaga), with an approximate combined capacity of 278 MW and 1,112 MWh, promoted by Rolwind Renovables. The transaction reinforces Engie’s strategic commitment to the development and consolidation of energy storage in Spain, a key element for the integration of renewable energy sources and the transition towards a more sustainable energy system.

The portfolio, which represents one of the largest and most advanced stand‑alone energy storage platforms in Spain, will contribute to improving the flexibility of the electricity system by facilitating the management of the intermittency of renewable energy sources and strengthening security of supply.

The GA_P team advising on the transaction was led by Verónica Romaní and Diego Martínez Colino, with the support of, among others, Laura Rey, Marta Gil, Beltrán García, Álvaro Obregón, Teresa Sagardoy, Patricia Medina, Vanessa Fernández and Marta Casilda Martínez‑Almeida, working in coordination with Engie’s legal M&A team, led by Aleix Fernández De Vinzenzi and Laura Cuesta.
