Towards separating collection and recycling of fishing gear | Expansión

Our experts, Ana Orondo, Pedro Poveda and Eduardo Orteu, analyse the new legal obligations imposed by the new Law 7/2022, of 8 April, on waste and contaminated soils for a circular economy, which will affect the fishing sector from 2025. Article 61 of this law requires the approval by the government of a system of extended product responsibility (EPR) for producers of fishing gear, who will have to assume the costs of separate collection and treatment of the waste from such fishing gear.
