Directive (EU) 2023/2413: the designation of ‘renewables acceleration areas’ in which projects are exempted from an environmental impact assessment
The new Renewable Energy Directive requires Member States to approve plans designating ‘ renewables acceleration areas’. The plans will be subject to strategic environmental assessment, but projects in these areas will be exempted from environmental impact assessment.

Ministerial orders defining specific and necessary aspects for the implementation of the Voluntary Carbon Market ('VCM') in Portugal, pursuant to Decree-law no. 4/2024 of 5 January (which creates the VCM in Portugal, encouraging projects that reduce or sequester greenhouse gas emissions throughout the country), have been published on 2 October.

Publicadas, em 2 de outubro, as portarias definem aspetos específicos e necessários à implementação do Mercado Voluntário de Carbono (‘MVC’) em Portugal, dando cumprimento ao Decreto-Lei n.º 4/2024, de 5 de janeiro (que institui o Mercado Voluntário de Carbono em Portugal, promovendo projetos de redução e sequestro de emissões de GEE em território nacional).
