Silvia is a senior associate in the Intellectual Property practice at Gómez-Acebo & Pombo.

She specialises in advising national and international clients on patent law, plant breeders’ rights and trade secrets, as well as on other areas of industrial and intellectual property and unfair competition.

She has extensive experience representing clients in large-scale patent infringement and validity litigation, typically in the context of multi-jurisdictional disputes covering the main European and international markets. Her practice focuses on companies with a strong technological component, with particular emphasis on the life sciences sector—where she regularly represents major multinational pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, including businesses specialising in the genetic improvement of plant varieties—as well as on the technology and telecommunications sector. In this latter area, Silvia stands out for her solid experience advising leading multinational companies worldwide on the design and implementation of preventive strategies against litigation in key commercial events such as the Mobile World Congress.

Silvia is also involved in corporate transactions and innovation-related contracts, including R&D agreements, patent and plant variety licensing agreements, technology transfer contracts and M&A transactions involving industrial property assets. She also has extensive experience in strategically coordinating with external technical experts in order to assess the patentability of her clients’ developments and to analyse potential infringement risks relating to third-party rights.

Silvia is a frequent speaker at international patent forums, as well as on industrial and intellectual property rights more generally, and is the author of several articles published in specialised legal journals.
