Companies are preparing redundancies and job adjustments for this autumn.

The end of the summer has ended with poor results in terms of both the number of Social Security affiliates and the number of unemployed, and companies are preparing redundancy plans and labour readjustments for this autumn. The economic contraction is triggering an increase in collective redundancies in industry, while other sectors are considering less drastic containment measures, such as salary cuts or the elimination of bonuses. Gómez-Acebo & Pombo’s labour partner, Ignacio del Fraile, perceives a generalised business trend to implement cost-cutting measures. Ignacio has detailed that “Although major restructuring is focused on industry, we are seeing other types of adjustments in other sectors, such as salary cuts, elimination of bonuses, individual dismissals…. Measures designed to optimise resources”.
