Guadalupe Díaz – Súnico joins GA_P as Tax Partner
Gómez-Acebo & Pombo has incorporated Guadalupe Díaz-Súnico as a new Tax partner in the Barcelona office.
Before joining the Firm, Guadalupe was managing partner of the Finance and Tax Department for Madrid and Barcelona at Lener, a firm she joined in 2019, after 15 years at Cuatrecasas. She specialises in advising family businesses and private clients, with a particular focus on international clients, especially in Latin America. During her professional career, she has advised foreign private clients on their relocation to Spain, on the structuring of their assets and on the review of their existing structures in order to organise them efficiently and plan their generational transmission via donations or succession.
She is recognised by the Private Client Global Elite directory as one of the best private wealth lawyers of reference, a mention that is also included in the Chambers High Net Worth Guide 2021.
Guadalupe is a member of organisations such as the International Fiscal Association (IFA), the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and vice-president of the tax section of the International Association of Young Lawyers (AIJA).
With this incorporation, the Firm adds a new partner to the recent internal promotions of Paula Zarzalejos and Josep Ortiz, in the Public and Regulatory team, and the recent incorporation of Carlos de la Torre in the Labour team.

Key points on ‘reasonable adjustments’ due to worker incapacity
The declaration of the worker's incapacity does not automatically terminate the contract, unless the worker expresses his or her wish not to continue working. But permanent absolute incapacity and severe incapacity are incompatible with work. For the rest, the worker has (an extinguishment?) period of ten days to decide and the employer has (an extinguishment?) period of thirty days to decide. Companies with less than 25 employees can assess when the obligation is an excessive burden, but the rest is left to numerous factors, not always objectively measurable. The company must provide a suitable offer without knowing what this suitability depends on.
