Experts defend stable labour laws with minor changes | Jornal de Negócios

Madalena Caldeira, head of the Lisbon office’s Employment practice, speaks to Jornal de Negócios about the changes to the Decent Work Agenda one year after it came into force.

She comments that these legislative changes “were aimed to fight precariousness, improve workers’ incomes, mobilise new instruments to encourage collective bargaining, promote a more even balance between professional, family and personal life, among others” and concludes that “the result has fallen behind, far behind, and the legislative solutions that have been enshrined in law do not meet the objectives and, worse than not meeting the objectives, in most cases they have worsened the already fragile balance between the parties to the employment relationship”.
