The European regulation on deforestation for the distribution sector

The European regulation on deforestation for the distribution sector

By the end of 2024, the obligations set out in the new European regulation on deforestation will become enforceable, which will impact the import and export to and from the EU of certain products made from cattle, cocoa, coffee, oil palm, rubber, soya and timber. Subject to exceptions, those marketing these products in Spain will have to carry out the relevant risk assessments.

The focus should be on the different obligations that may apply to the actors affected by the regulation along the supply chain, which may vary depending on their typology and position, so it is essential that the roles are clearly described in the contractual clauses of the contracts signed along the whole chain.

What obligations do companies in the distribution sector have, how can they comply with them, what do they need to obtain from the operator, and how can they safeguard their position along the supply chain?

    External speakers:

    • Aurelio del Pino | President of the Asociación de Cadenas Españolas de Supermercados (Association of Spanish Supermarket Chains)
    • María Segura | Head of Food Safety and Environment of the Asociación de Cadenas Españolas de Supermercados (Association of Spanish Supermarket Chains)

Main differences between regional tax regulations and those of the common territory

The existence of different tax regulations in our country necessitates consideration of certain differences that may arise when making decisions.

The importance of providing in-depth advice across all tax jurisdictions is a key aspect of integrated tax consulting. Therefore, for GA_P, offering clients tax advisory services that effectively convey the current regulatory framework is a significant goal that requires a deep understanding of applicable tax law.

In this regard, GA_P has strengthened its Tax Area by incorporating new professionals specialized in Regional Regulations at the Bilbao office. The aim of the proposed event is to introduce these professionals and explain the functioning of the Regional Tax System and its comparison with the Common Territory.
